Paper Flowers

This flower is quick and easy to cut and assemble! The files are compatible with both the 8x12 and 12x12 mats and can be sized to fit your needs.  As sized in the file, each flower assembled is approximately 4" in size.

Here is the tutorial:

(Note: All flowers follow the same steps for assembly

there are images below for how I curled the petals for each).

1. Cut out all your pieces.  For this project I am using a skewer to shape and a quilling tool to help roll.  You can also use a pencil to shape and hand roll.
2. Place adhesive along the bottom straight edge of the flower center piece. Roll in tightly - make sure you roll so adhesive sticks :)
3. Use the skewer to roll the petals of the flowers.  I put my skewer in the center of each petal and bend the paper up around it.  Your piece should look like this image.
4-13. Set your flower forms in size order.  We will be starting with the smallest. Place adhesive (hot glue works best or a strong adhesive) in the center of the smallest flower shape then adhere in the center of the flower that we rolled above. Adhere the flower into the next sized flower form, staggering the petals as you go.
14. Adhere the leaf piece to the bottom!

This flower comes with two center strips.  Adhere the two strips together then roll tightly. Then spread out the center petals before adhering it into the flower forms.

Tips

For my flowers I am using a variety of cardstock weights, mostly 60# and 80# and I cut them at a slower speed (I am using 5 on my machine but if they aren't cutting well, slow it down more) as some of them are detailed in shape.  Before you "unload" your mat, lift up the paper a bit to see if it has cut well...if not, push paper back down and cut again! Hot glue is my preference for flowers, it just seems to hold the best over time.  I use a wide slot quilling tool, the slot is a bit wider than most which I think is easier to work with.  Before I found this tool, I used tweezers to start my rolls and finished with my fingers - I often still use my fingers to roll after I get them started.  Don't be afraid to bend that paper!
