Valentine Mailboxes

This Valentine Mailbox is approximately 9" (5-1/2" side walls) x 7" x 3-3/4" and has a mail slot that is about 4-1/4" x 5/8" making this perfect for school Valentines or filling with stuffed animals and treats as a gift!  As it is sized, you will need a Cameo (12x12) or larger to cut.  You can use the file with Portrait but the size of the project will have to be reduced to fit your mat.

Tutorial:

When you open your file in your software, be sure to ungroup and move the pieces so they look like the image below.  Remember with Silhouette Studio, any pieces off to the side of the mat will not cut so just move your active pieces to the virtual mat when you are ready!

Once you have all your pieces cut, the tutorial is below:

1. Cut out all your pieces (save the O pieces!). Adhere your mats in place as shown.
2. Grab your heart pieces.  Place foam adhesive on the back of the XO heart and adhere to the center of the red heart.
3. Place foam adhesive on the back of your O middle.  I like to use the O cut to place my center of my O but you can eyeball it too!
4. Your heart piece should look like this.
5. Adhere your heart in the center of the open heart on the box front.
6. Place adhesive on you box side tabs (shown by white adhesive tape in photo).  I place the back part of the box on my table and fold over the side.
7. Having the pieces setup that way allows you to line up the bottom of the boxes easier when adhering the two pieces together.
8. Once you have that side adhered, flip the pieces over as shown in image.
9. Bring the remaining side (the back) over and adhere in place.
10. Your box has two bottom tabs.  Place adhesive on the "inside" of them.  The box base goes inside the box and these tabs help reinforce it.
11. Next, grab your box bottom and place adhesive on the four little tabs.
12. Flip the bottom over and add adhesive on the sides as shown.
13. Adhere the tabs to the sides to for a tray.
14. Insert that bottom tray into the bottom of your mailbox.  I use one hand inside the top of the mailbox and one on the bottom to fit it in.  The tray will adhere to the box sides as well as the two bottom tabs of the mailbox.
15. Your box is complete!  Embellish as desired.
