Today I am sharing my new Pop Up Gift Card Boxes! These boxes are approximately
4-1/2" x 2-1/4" x 1" and hold a standard size gift card that pops up when the box is opened. Each box is compatible with both the 8x12 and 12x12 mats and the come with the paper elements shown. The boxes can be used without the gift card insert as well making a small hinged box to store gifts!
Here is the tutorial:
1. Cut out the box pieces. Fold on the score lines.
2. For the main box, place adhesive on the SIX tabs.
3. Adhere the top and bottom tabs to the box sides...
4. Then adhere the center tabs to the bottom of the box sides. This will form the hinge area.
5. Grab your gift card insert piece and place adhesive along each end on the backside (adhesive goes down from each arrow, just one strong strip of adhesive will do).
6. Adhere the insert in place, matching up the top inside box area and bottom inside box area.
7. Insert your gift card.
8. Close your box.
9. Cut out the decoration pieces.
10. Assemble the decoration pieces.
11. Embellish as desired!
Loved your tutorial Jamie. Have pinned it

Hi! I purchased this file but was wondering when you say that it comes with the elements shown -does that only mean the pieces -not the actual background paper (for print and cut)? I'm assuming it doesn't, but wanted to make sure that I wasn't missing something because I didn't see the pattern.
ReplyDeleteThis is really adorable, but I'm having a hard time telling which tabs are which when you refer to them in the instructions -is there any way you could label your tutorial a little more? I guess I'm just not that good at figuring these things out. I think I just glued the wrong tabs to the wrong places!
ReplyDeleteHi Brandi! Sorry you are having issues with the assembly. Basically with this one, the two tabs at the bottom adhere to the long bottom piece, the two tabs at the top adhere to the long top piece. Once you have that done, it should look like image 3 (last on top row). Then the center tabs adhere to the bottom of the box sides. This will give you a complete box at the bottom and a hinged lid. Hopefully that will help explain it all better. Thanks! Jamie
ReplyDeleteThanks! I got if figured out! I was having a hard time knowing which areas you were calling the "top" and "bottom" (I thought they were different) when just looking at it all flat and not sure what you were calling the "bottom of the box sides". Now that I figured it out, it's like "duh" -it's not hard at all-think I was just confusing it with a different box type and making it harder than it was!
ReplyDeleteHi! I downloaded but I'm not sure if I am supposed to change settings on the design to score/cut/etc? Does it download automatically with the settings?
