Today I am sharing my new square boxes! There are two types, with an open lid and with a hinged lid. These square boxes are great for holding small gifts, party favors, and baked goods! The box is approximately 4-1/4” x 4-1/4” 1-3/4” as it comes sized and can be sized to fit your needs. All the pieces are compatible with both the 8x12 and 12x12 mats.

Here is the tutorial:
1. Cut out all your pieces and fold on the score lines.
2. Starting with the bottom box, place adhesive on the box tabs and adhere them to the box sides to form.
3. Adhere your mats to the box lid.
4. Place adhesive on the box tabs and adhere them to the box sides to form as you did the bottom.
5. Fill your box with goodies and place the lid on top.
6. Embellish as desired.

For this box I am using the Basis White 80# card stock for the main box and lid. This card stock has a great weight for boxes and a nice elegant feel to it as well, making it perfect for your wedding tables! The box has a hinged lid so it opens easily and an open circle so your favor will show through! These boxes are perfect for baked goods like little pies or big cookies, a folded napkin square with your new monogram, chocolates wrapped in tule, anything you can fit in to a 4-1/4” x 4-1/4” x 1-3/4” space!
The sentiment says "thank you for sharing in our day" and is cut with the Stardream Metallic Gold 65# card stock. This paper cuts like butter in my Silhouette Cameo! I have tied a ivory organza ribbon around the edge of the box lid. This slips off and on easily and provides enough tension to keep the lid closed well too!
Here is the tutorial:
1. Cut out all the pieces to the 3d square wedding favor box and fold on the score lines.
2. Place adhesive on the four tabs on the box base and then adhere the tabs to the box sides.
3. Place adhesive on the two tabs on the box lid and adhere the tabs to the side. Place adhesive along the back piece of the lid (opposite the indent) and adhere that against the bottom box back. Fold back and forth so it opens and closes easily.
4. Close the lid and use foam adhesive to adhere the mat in place.
5. Cut the sentiment and adhere it to the center of the mat as shown.
6. Tie your organza ribbon around the box edge and complete with a bow.

ReplyDeleteVery new to silhouette, ie this xmas ;) Just bought a good few of your designs but cannot find any help/ instructions on how to use them in the cutter.(the link goes to a page not found) The tute states cut the pieces... how? I have done trace and cut on my own images, but imagined these files would already be set up for cutting/ piercing? Can you point me in the right direction please, Kal. Currently working on the 3d box with scalloped edge
Are you working with the first box? With Silhouette, there is an active mat (the white are) and then the inactive (grey) area. Items off in the grey will not cut. Just move the piece you want to cut to the white mat area and cut it. Once you have that piece cut delete it or move it off to the grey area then move your next piece on. Does that make sense? I sent you an email as well so feel free to contact me back through there. Once you have the pieces cut, you can follow the tutorial.
