Some times a card idea just hits me and it drives me crazy until I can get it to paper...then it usually drives me more crazy as it comes to life only to find out my mind's eye was much better than the paper version! However, every once in a while the two meet up and I walk away happy and proud! I love this card...the colors, the feel, the look, everything. It doesn't happen often, but boy - it feels good when it does! Now the trick is, can I give it up! :)
Paper by Reminisce, Genuine Boy collection, Jewels by Kaiser, Ribboon by American Crafts (and twine). Font is done on computer using Weltron Urban font.
We made these boxes for teacher gifts this year for the Holidays.
These brownie boxes are made to house a 20oz package of Ghirardelli Double Chocolate Bownie Mix and a tall whisk (or spatula). The cut files were created in SCAL and can be dowloaded through these links: Brownie Box_Tall Pocket (shown) -or- Brownie Box_Short Pocket. You will need the bigger cutting mat for this, it requires 10x18 paper. You can download a Word document of the score marks HERE. For the SVG you will need to set the W=17 and H=9.50. I have my axis as X=.45 and Y=.41
Be sure to check out all the other projects on the Practical Scrappers site and sign up for their message board!
This is a shaker card that I designed in Cricut Design Studio using George & Basic Shapes.
The cut file can be found HERE. The card is 4x6" when completed. The cut file is for a 12x6 piece of paper and it will require two snips at each end of the paper since Cricut doesn't cut to 12". Once the file is cut, score at 4" and then 8". I used transparency film for the window and the flap to the left folds in and glues down. I used strip tape around the circle window so I could include beads before I glued the flap down.
This is my final Christmas card of 2009! This is another pop-up gift card holder (the cut file can be found on the side bar). I made the card base and inside larger, changing the size to 6" (rather than the 4") and then cut the center slit larger to hold the card horizontal.
I wish you and your family a very merry Christmas!
Hannah, Santa, and Gannon 12/2009
I just wanted to take a moment to tell you all that I am blown away by my Cricut and SCAL on a daily basis. I just can't get over how easily I can create nearly anything I want by using these two together. I had a customer request that came in for a Redwings and Toronto Hockey page set and after a little playing around I was able to create a couple svg files and cut them out! This would have taken hours to do manually...so impressed!
This is a card I create a couple months back but I guess it never made it to a post!
My snowman card is featured in the December issue of Making Cards magazine!
Practical Scrappers is having a decoration challenge! Click here to come check out all the amazing ideas!
This is one of Jenn's snowmen that I have melted into the candle!
Julie had this terrific tutorial for what I call a sliding gift card - you can check out hers here. Be sure to take some time to check out the rest of her work too, her stuff is just amazing! I took her instructions and modified them a little to make a Cricut Cut File. This cut file was designed on Plantin Schoolbook. Once the file is cut, you have to make scores on the 5x11 (long side) at 4 1/4" and again at 8 1/2". On the smaller piece (inset) you will need to make a vertical score where the cut pieces would meet. Download the cut file HERE.
The part above tucks in the pocket so when the card is closed, it is hidden and when it is opened, the gift card is exposed!
NOTE: For the cut file, you will need to hide the inside contours of the "U" tabs (shown in middle photo). To do this, set your page view at 200% and move down to the area with the "U" shapes. Click the inside area of the "U" and right-click and choose Hide Contour. Do this on each shape and then cut the file. You will have to do this each time you open the file. The cut file will work without hiding the insides, it just looks better with them hidden :)
Today at Practical Scrappers, we are featuring my 3D snowflakes! These are super cute for the tree and gift packages and they are quick and easy! I have instructions below so you can make your own! First, you need to cut your snowflakes. There are many Cricut cartridges that have snowflake cuts, as long as they are symmetrical they'll work! I use Joys of the Season and the snowflake above is 4.54 wide by 4.37 high. You can get my cut file HERE. You will need to cut four the same size.
Once you have all four cut, the snowflakes will need to be scored once in the center on each snowflake. After all four snowflakes have the score marks, fold them in half (along score line) and place adhesive on half.
Join two sides together, matching one side of adhesive with the one side that does not contain the adhesive.
Continue adding snowflakes until all four are together
Once the snowflake is assembled, I flatten mine and then emboss it with the Cuttlebug
Once embossed, simple fold it all back out!
How easy was that?!
This is another baby card created from the Rhonna Farrer Splish Splash kit.
Thanks to everyone that stopped by my booth yesterday at the craft show! It was a lot of fun getting to see everyone and chat!
This is another digital kit from Two Peas freebies. This is the Splish Splash kit by Rhonna Farrer. I added text in word and then sent the bottom portion of the card through my Cuttlebug.
This is another set of Christmas cards that I have created with one of Jenn's drawings. I have these in box sets for the craft bazzar that I am doing this coming weekend.
I found this cute little image over at Two Peas in their free digitial area. This is a kit called Bright Smiles by Michelle Undrewood. Super cute kit and makes for some fast cards!
