I prefer 80# card stock which is what the most of the flowers are made from, but the one red with white polka dots is double-sided patterned paper from WeRMemory Keepers. It is all how you roll the card stock. I use a skewer (like you buy at the grocery store) to curl the petals. I try to show this in the photo steps. After you have them curled, they tend to stay well and then you can scrunch them up as you assemble them to give them lift. Hope this helps!
