3D Rose Oval Topiary & Sunflower Round Topiary!
Today I am introducing my new Topiary files! I am absolutely in love with these!
Everything is made from paper with the exception of the bow and rocks (that are in the flower pots)!
Let's start with my 3D Rose Oval Topiary!
When finished this project is approximately 10-1/2" x 4" x 4". The file comes with the flower pot pieces, the stem piece, the oval form pieces, a support piece, and the 3D flower pieces. There are 27 flowers used to create this project. The file is compatible with both the 8x12 and 12x12 mats however, you may need to move some pieces for the smaller mat.
For this project I used Basis 80# Card Stock and Stardream Metallic 105# Card Stock.
Any heavier card stock should work just fine.
Here is the tutorial:
2. Start with the stem. Place adhesive in the corner with the arrow and your skewer (or pencil) in the opposite corner.
3. Roll the stem tightly toward the adhesive. Secure with tape.
4. Cut off one end so it is level.
5. Then create two slits across from each other and fold the pieces down so they are even.
6. Cut the other end so it is level.
7. Then repeat step 5 for this end.
8. Place adhesive on the backs of the tabs (shown by the arrows).
9. Grab your circular piece with the tabs. Fold all the tabs up. Insert your stem so the adhesive is touching the bottom.
10. The bottom should look like this now. Press firmly to adhere.
11. Place adhesive on the solid parts of the circular piece.
12. Place the ring piece over the piece to cover the holes.
13. Grab your solid circle piece and place adhesive all over the back.
14. Adhere it to the bottom to cover the holes. Press firmly to secure the adhesive.
15. Next grab the flowerpot base. Add adhesive to the tab piece.
16. Insert the tab piece into the slot and press on the tab to secure the adhesive.
17. Place adhesive on the back of the trim piece. (I have mine in the same color, but you can make this piece a different color or even patterned paper like in the sunflower topiary).
18. Start at the slot area of the flowerpot and begin adhering the trim in place.
19. Your flowerpot should look like this now.
20. Place adhesive on the tabs of the stem piece as shown.
21. Slide your flowerpot over the tab pieces then adhere the tabs to the flowerpot sides.
22. Your creation should look like this now.
23. Next grab your ball support piece and place adhesive all over the top.
24. Slide it down the stem (adhesive side up as it will attach to the ball form).
Next we will begin building the oval form...
25. Place adhesive on the tab with the hole pieces. I have two arrows shown, but you do not need to place adhesive on the tab with the solid in the pieces. It makes it to hard to close later. (Found out the hard way!)
26. Start with the hole piece. Insert the tab inside the slot and press to secure the adhesive.
27. Bring the opposite side over and tuck into the slot.
28-29. Continue bringing the opposite side over and tucking into slots.
30. Your bottom form should look like this now.
31. Line up the holes and slide it down the stem. Do not adhere the support yet though.
32. Place adhesive under the stem tabs.
33. Pull your bottom form up and secure the tabs on the bottom.
34. Place a couple pieces of tape over the tabs to secure in place. This won't be seen so don't worry about what it looks like.
35. Your creation should look like this now.
36. Slide your ball support up and adhere to the form base.
37. Next grab your solid form piece and bring the tabs over into the opposite slots (as we did above), leaving the main slot open. It should look like this.
38. Place an adhesive tape around the bottom form piece. Remove the tape backing.
39. Bring your top form over your bottom form so the solid edges line up. Tuck the tab into the slot and press on the sides firmly to secure the adhesive.
40. Your form should look like this now!
41. Next cut out your 27 flowers and assemble them. They will follow pretty close to my Queen Anne Rose tutorial which you can find at the bottom of this post...(Rolled Rose and Easy To Assemble Rose 3D Paper Flowers!). (Depending on how you adhere them on, you may need less or more. 27 covered mine).
42. Use a strong adhesive on the back of each of the flowers and attach them to the form.
43. Continue attaching them until all are in place. Note, it may lean a little while you are putting flowers on - once you have them all in place they will balance out.
44. Your topiary will look similar to this when finished! Tie a bow on to embellish and fill your flowerpot with beads or rocks!
My 3D Sunflower Round Topiary follows the same tutorial.
For this project I used Basis 80# Card Stock and Curious Metallic 65# Card Stock (flowers).

Here is the tutorial for the flowers:
1. Use a skewer (or pencil) to roll the centers. Each flower will have three petal pieces.
2. Adhere the center of the flower in the smallest flower shape. Bend the flower up.
3. Adhere this into the center of the next sized flower then bend that flower up.
5. Adhere this into the final flower shape and bend up the flower slightly.
6. Continue until you have 30 flowers built. (Depending on how you adhere them on, you may need less or more. 30 covered mine).
