Nancy O'Dell and Creative Memories + Giveaway!

I was recently given the honor of receiving Full of Love by Nancy O'Dell.  This book was written in conjunction with Creative Memories and explores the power of the family photo album and shares all the value that one gets being on the receiving end of our scrapbooks!  Full of Love also features shortcuts to creating amazing pages, tips on how to tell better stories (from a journalist!) as well as take better photos!  As a scrapbooker, I really enjoyed reading about how Nancy's own childhood scrapbooks have impacted her life.  It only makes me believe in this journey of 'life documentation' that much more!  Trust me when I say that this is one that you just got to read yourself!

Luckily, I have an additional copy that I am going to mail out to one of you!  All you have to do is be a follower and leave me a comment telling me why you scrapbook!  Be sure to check back on Saturday 11/13 to see if you are the winner!

I've never heard of this book before Jamie, thanks for the information on it!

I scrapbook because it makes me smile. It is my therapy! I love starting with some photos and turning it into a story and a memory. It also brings me a lot of joy to watch my family and see the looks on their faces when they look through our scrapbooks.

Thanks so much for the chance to win. Great giveaway!

I started out scrapbooking because I was invited to a Creative Memories party. My husband thought it was a really cool thing and would give me the creative outlet I needed. Now, scrapbooking has just become a way of life for me. Without thinking - I know every event will be photographed and eventually find its way into a family album.

I scrapbook for my two children. My MIL recently passed away and she didn't have any pictures which makes me sad for my kids. To not have anything to leave my kids. Not documention no history, nothing. I want my kids to have something to remember and look back on. Something that they can pass on to their family someday.

I scrapbook because I find it therapeutic. My mom passed away and I was having a hard time. My church invited me to a scrapbooking day that they were having and since then I have continued scrapbooking which has been almost 4 years. It brings me a lot of joy, relaxation and great memories!

An interesting book, sounds like it would be a good read. I started scrapping and then noticed that my kids loved to look at the completed pages over and over and over again, they liked seeing themselves in a story. I love working with various papers and ink to create these beautiful life stories for family and friends.

I scrapbook for myself. It is relaxing to me and I love that I get to relive the events as I scrap them. I create the books and projects for my kids mostly but I do it because it makes me happy.

I had NO idea Nancy ODell was a scrapper! That is so cool. I would love to have a journalist give me pointers on journaling (not my strong suit)! I scrap because I enjoy it, it relaxes me, it is a great creative outlet for me and at the same time I can preserve memories. Thanks for the opportunity to win :)!

I had never done so much as one scrapbook page for any of my children. I had some photo albums, but that was all. My oldest son was severe ADHD and spent years and years in counseling. He (along with my daughter) was abused by my ex-husband and it took him many years to get past it. I lost all of those years spent in hospitals and therapy sessions and they can't ever be recovered.

When my first grandson was born, I made my first page. It wasn't much and they have gotten better - but I wanted him to know how much he was loved and how special he was. He has a mild form of autism (he has is own blog www.isaiahseyes.com) and I wanted to document his achievements.

I've gone back and done scrapbooks for all three of my children (now 32, 29, and 24) but I'm not done with my youngest's yet. He has the least in the way of pictures because of the trauma of his life during my oldest's issues. I've also done my oldest's first military achievement album (yes, he is now a successful adult in the military), a compilation album of his childhood, a wedding album for my daughter, started her childhood compilation album, and in the process of albums for my other 3 grandkids, my oldest son's wedding, and my youngest son's. I've made albums for friends and for other relatives.

Every album that I've made I've given away and finally started an album for me. My daughter did the first scrapbook she ever did for my 50th birthday. It was - and will ever be - incredibly special.

That's a lot of info...

My sons grew up so fast, now teenagers, I scrapbook as I reminisce, recalling special moments.

My parents immigrated from communist Cuba when I was 5 and all I have of my childhood are 2 TINY pictures smuggled out when we left the country and were only allowed to take the clothes we had on our backs. Arriving here they didn't have the money or the time and energy to take many pictures either, much less put them in scrapbooks.

I scrapbook because I want my daughter to have all those memories to look back on when she grows up: Why we chose to adopt, why she was the perfect child for us, why she is such a treasure to us, how happy her childhood was, etc. What she doesn't remember, she will have documented.

I started to help a friend who was adopting and needed a scrapbook of her family as part of the adoption process. Now I realize that was just God giving me experience as I am now creating my own as part of our own adoption process.

Wow! Why do I LOVE to scrapbook!! It is my obsession!! My therapy!! My way to express myself creatively!! If I could, I would have everyone I know scrapbook. Life is short, and memories are long when you have pictures and they are mounted along with all of your thoughts on a scrapbook page! I love to scrapbook! and I love it when I can get anyone to share and scrapbook with me!

HI Jamie-

I will say that scrapbooking is a therapy for me. I am fairly new at it, but I learn a lot checking all the blogs from people like you, talented and blessed.
Also, I would like to keep on every single layout a little bit of what we live everyday, my kids, my family, relatives, friends, etc., yes, this is the reason why I started scrapbooking. Blessings!!!
Ps. I'm a new follower

I scrapbook for the love of my family and friends. It is a way to preserve the wonderful memories I have and the blessings God has given me. I have been blessed beyond words and if I can just capture a fraction of that feeling in my books I will be happy. :~)
